Euphorbia-1922
This first appeared in “Good Housekeeping,” as a poem serialized in a three part installment. It follows the journey of Marge to her final settlement, tracing her loses along the way, her eventual anger toward her husband, and her redemption at the end. It was first printed in book form in 1987.

The Fire Bird-1922
This is a long narrative poem about a young Native American woman. The young woman, Yiada, is tortured by her conscience for her sin against another woman, so she seeks the help of a medicine man.

Jesus of the Emerald
-1923
The first fifteen pages are a narrative poem based on the “Lentulus Legend.” In the poem Tiberius, Caesar sent an artist to capture the likeness of Jesus onto an emerald. In a nineteen page afterward, Gene recounts her investigation into the historical background of the legend.
